Intro to SUP


Always wanted to give stand-up Paddleboarding a go? Fancy a giggle with friends, family or just meeting new folks whilst having a fun adventure? 

This session will introduce you to the kit and skills involved in this activity. You will learn how to control your SUP starting in a kneeling position with the goal of progressing to a standing posture. We will aim to venture out for a tour along the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline refining our skills and exploring along the way.

Experience level? +

To attend this course, you should:

  • Be comfortable in and on the water
  • Be able to swim or be happy to float
  • Have preferably  paddled a SUP before 

Age restrictions? +

The course is suitable for all ages above 10 years old. Any paddlers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  

Who is the course for? +

Anyone with a small amount of experience (5+ days) looking to build their confidence and skill set on the water in a beautiful coastal setting.

Perhaps you’re aiming to buy your own SUP or already own one, if so, this course could be for you. You’ll come away with the essential skills to plan your own trips including tidal planning and weather forecasting. 

You may be part of an organised SUP club, a group of friends, an adventurous family or you may be a solo paddler. 

Qualifications gained? +

This is a practical skills course with no assessments or qualifications. However, it can be tied in with BC Personal Performance  Awards.

Where? +

You’ll meet at our base near Solva to get kitted up (exact location will be shared in your confirmation of booking) and we’ll head to a nearby harbour which we’ve chosen to best suit the conditions on the day. 

Kit Provided +

  • The use of one of our fleet of high quality NRS Inflatable SUPs
  • Touring paddling jacket
  • Personnel PFD (floatation vest)
  • Paddle
  • Drybag
  • Long John or full wetsuit

What to Bring +

In your confirmation of booking, you’ll receive a full list of basic items to bring on the day e.g. bathers to wear under the wetsuit, a water bottle, a towel, old shoes or wetsuit boots etc.
