Downwind SUP (18+)

Perhaps you can already SUP and want to look at understanding the environment and using this to your advantage? Maybe you have already done some down winding but you would like to work on your seamanship and develop tactics to allow you to catch waves more efficiently out at sea? Either way we can help you on your journey as the course will be designed around your aspirations.

OTHER INFORMATION

Experience level? +

To attend this course, you should:

  • Be comfortable in and on the water
  • Be able to swim or be happy to float
  • Have preferably paddled a SUP before

 

Age restrictions? +

The course is suitable for all ages above 16 years old ( if you have younger children drop us a message and we’ll see what we can sort out). Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Who is the course for? +

Anyone looking to build their confidence and skill set on the water in a beautiful coastal setting.

Perhaps you aready own a SUP, maybe you want to learn the basics of Downwinding  maybe you are already a jedi but would like some local knowledge and support to allow you to journey around our amazing coastline with some of the worlds strongest tidal flows.

You may be part of an organised SUP club, a group of friends, an adventurous family or you may be a solo paddler.

Qualifications gained? +

This is based on your aspirations. These courses are normally taken by clients with a specific skill development in mind. However, it can be tied in with BC Personal Performance  Awards.

Where? +

You’ll meet at our base near Solva to get kitted up (exact location will be shared in your confirmation of booking) and we’ll head to a nearby harbour which we’ve chosen to best suit the conditions on the day.

Kit Provided +

  • The use of one of our fleet of high quality NRS Inflatable SUPs we have several 12’6 and 14 ft touring boards. You might also like to try one of our hardboards.
  • Touring paddling jacket
  • Personnel PFD (floatation vest)
  • Paddle
  • Drybag
  • Long John or full wetsuit

 

What to Bring +

In your confirmation of booking, you’ll receive a full list of basic items to bring on the day e.g. bathers to wear under the wetsuit, a water bottle, a towel, old shoes or wetsuit boots etc.
